Konami Group reported 9.7 billion yen ($64.6 million) in revenue from its gaming and systems division, including casino equipment, in the three months to June 30. The results were down 3.0 percent from a year ago, according to an announcement released Thursday.
The gaming division posted a profit of nearly 1.28 billion yen in the first quarter of the fiscal year, down 35.2% from a year earlier.
The Japanese entertainment giant's gaming and systems division includes the supply of casino slot machines and casino floor management systems.
In the casino gaming segment, Konami Group operates outside of Japan through Konami Australia Pty Ltd and U.S.-based Konami Gaming Inc.
Konami Group said on Thursday that the North American and Australian gaming markets remain "strong" with "new deployment opportunities."
The Company reported "increased sales" of its slot cabinet Dimension series products during the reporting period.
As for the cabinets supplied for revenue-sharing activities, it said it has "continued to expand the layout" of Dimensity 49J cabinets with 49-inch J-curved monitors and Dimensity 75C cabinets with 75-inch curved monitors.
In terms of game content, the "Unwoolly Rich" series was installed on the casino floor in the North American market, making a "wonderful start."
The "Burush" series "has maintained a high performance, with the best performance in NSW, Australia's largest casino market," the company added.
Konami Group said its casino management system, Syncros, went into operation at "a number of large casino facilities" in the United States.
"Demand has normalized in the three months to June 30, 2024, compared to the same period last year when sales were boosted by the recovery in the Asian market caused by COVID-19," the game supplier said.
Konami Group said it will "create an environment that demands higher product attractiveness" as its competitors continue to introduce new products in the future. Konami said it will increase its "brand value" by developing "new game titles and system functions."
The company said it will further expand its line-up of Dimension cabinets available in the market, while expanding the group's existing game sales and developing new titles for its "High Performance Popular Games Series."
Konami Group is also involved in the Pachinko gaming sector, which focuses on Japan, as well as digital entertainment and sports, including video games and mobile games. In the three months to June 30, the group's overall sales rose 24.0 percent year-on-year to nearly 9.04 billion yen.
Konami Group's profit for the period was 19.16 billion yen, up 43.3% year-on-year.
